Thomas McCarthy - Herself And Myself

Product may vary slightly from image representation.
Thomas McCarthy is an Irish Traveller from County Offaly who comes from a long line of old traditional singers and musicians. Now based in London, he continues to sing the old unaccompanied songs he learned from family members, including many previously unknown versions of traditional songs, along with other songs written by relatives and a couple of his own. This CD is dedicated to his mother, a fine singer who died four years ago and from whom he learned much of his repertoire.

Thomas is an outstanding performer with an unforgettable voice. He is one of the more significant singers to emerge from the Irish traveller community and brings the hidden songs and culture of this misunderstood and ignored community to a wider audience.
