Beinn Lee are a six-piece band from Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Formed in 2013, the band are rooted in the west coast style of traditional music. The collective inheritance of Gaelic song and west coast pipe music provide a very strong traditional backbone to their music, but their music of contemporary and self-penned tunes and songs is infused with diverse, modern influences. The instrumentation of accordion, fiddle, pipes/flute, guitar, piano, drums and vocals provide the band with a 'big' sound equally enjoyed at small village halls and festivals across Scotland. An accumulation of players from threes different parts of the island, Beinn Lee is made up of Anna Black and Angus John Macinnes from North Uist; Pàdruig Morrison and James Stewart from Grimsay; and Micheal Steele and Mairi Thérèse Gilfedder from South Uist.? Their debut album OSGARRA is an accumulation of five years of playing, writing and arranging music and bringing together a strong traditional sense of tune with modern backing to create a new and fresh sound to West Coast traditional music. OSGARRA showcases a selection of tunes and songs written and arranged by the band in both Gaelic and English as well as tunes from some of Scotland's foremost contemporary composers of traditional music, giving a musical landscape from reflective songs to driving dance beats.
